Nikolaihof Gruner Veltliner Federspiel 2021
With almost 2,000 years of history, Nikolaihof is the oldest winery in Austria and one of the first in the world to have begun working by biodynamic principles according to the regulations of the Demeter Association. No herbicides, fertilisers, pesticides, or synthetic sprays are used in the vineyards.
Tasting Notes
The 2021 Grüner Veltliner Federspiel shows an herbaceous impression as well as notes of kumquats, apple, quince and walnut. Even in its youthful stage, one could sink into its fragrance. On the palate, it surprises with juicy richness, creamy impression and an invigorating acidity. A great, extremely drinkable wine and food companion, as we are used to from the Nikolaihof.
Grape: Grüner Veltliner
Ageing: 6 months in a big old oak cask
Best served with: Cream of herbs soup with poached egg, smoked trout with horseradish-pomegranate sour cream and young potatoes, pork roll stuffed with almonds, dried apricots and apple on bulgur.
