Avignonesi Poggetto di Sopra
The Alliance is a group of five Nobile producers - Salcheto, Poliziano, La Braccesca, Boscarelli, and Avignonesi - all sharing the dedication to Nobile’s rediscovery. The five winemakers have coordinated their respective work and each crafted a cru 100% Sangiovese Nobile specifically for this project. The Poggetto di Sopra brings out the characteristics of its environment, recalling the clay soil it lays upon.
Tasting Notes
Scarlet red colour. The nose is rich in small red fruits, such as raspberry and strawberry, and violets with balsamic notes. The wood is well integrated with the varietal with light notes of vanilla and undergrowth. In the mouth it is vibrant and medium bodied. The fleshy, crisp fruit is accompanied by ripe, enveloping tannins.
The sediments you might find in this wine show that it is made of pure Sangiovese with minimal intervention. The deposit is due to its high content of a natural antioxidant called quercetin, which is perfectly safe. This is not a flaw, it is a characteristic of the pure Sangiovese.
Grape: 100% Sangiovese
Ageing: 24 months in oak barrels and tonneaux
Harvest: Second half of September
Serving temperature: 15º - 18ºC.
