Altolandon - Mil Historias - Syrah

Altolandon - Mil Historias - Syrah

€9.95

100% Syrah grown at an altitude of 1100 meters above sea level! A Premium variety, it first became fashionable in Spain in the 90s and it was planted a lot, possibly because it adapts very well to all types of soils. It requires a lot of sun & high temperatures, it is also resistant to diseases, its skins are thick & purple with good acidity.

The name for this wine range came with a play of words really. In Spain when you don’t see a friend for a long time they always say, “I have thousand things to tell you”. It’s a phrase that is used a lot so no better way to share these thousand things rather than over a bottle from this wine! Also the altitude of the vineyard is incidentally just over one thousand meters above sea level!

Grapes are put in 6000 liters stainless steel vats to better extract the best quality of the grapes, colour & aromas.
Cold maceration for 24 hours with a temperature control. Alcoholic fermentation is spontaneous (At Altolandon commercial yeast is never used to permit the original yeast develop and express in the wines, harnessing the maximum potential of the grapes) with gentle pumping over for 5 weeks.

After alcoholic fermentation is finished, wine is pressed and goes directly to third use French oak barrels of 225 liters where the malolactic fermentation takes place, also in a natural and spontaneous way. The aging goes for about 4 months in oak barrels. Stabilization is also natural, the wine is in deposits during the coldest months of the year where temperatures can go to minus 15º C.

Intense violet color, very attractive, fruity, floral, smells of blackberry, blackcurrant, violet, aromatic herbs such as rosemary, pepper & some licorice. In the palate there’s also violets, caramel & ripe red fruits.  Tannins are rounded, a meaty wine, that is elegant on palate with it’s pleasant acidity.

Perfect accompaniment to red meat, roasts, stews with a powerful flavor, grilled meats, Iberico ham, lamb stew, roast duck & game. Certified Organic & Vegan.

Ideal serving temperature 14ºC.
