100% Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains; a grape variety with very small berries and tight clusters, golden yellow colour, a little brown at times, with amber tones at the moment of ripening. It resists well to drought & poor soils, with a high potential in sugar with a good balance of acidity & a powerful, intense & delicate flavor. It is one of the oldest varieties of the Mediterranean white grapes & considered as the most aromatic grape variety in the world.

The name for this wine “Doña Leo”comes from Mrs. Leo. She was the owner of a very beautiful vineyard & also the teacher in the little village school; so very well known by everybody in Landete, (the Little village where the winery is located).

Altolandon felt they had to honour the previous owner by naming this wine coming from this beautiful 70 year old single vineyard with her name.

The high altitude of 1100 meters above sea level of the Altolandon vineyards have the ideal conditions for high quality production, giving the wines unique and special characteristics in the world. The wine is born from the grape, but the altitude at which it is grown and the terroir from which it comes are fundamental to the final result.

The higher the altitude, the more and better the solar radiation and thus the greater the thermal amplitude. The higher the altitude, the more tannins. The altitude provides a refreshing effect that increases the acidity indexes thanks to the thermal amplitude which results in a higher accumulation of aromas and flavours.

These climatic conditions mean that during the last months of the gestation period, the grapes ripen slowly and over a long period of time. This results in smaller berries with a higher proportion of skin than pulp, which is essential for red wines, as the tannins are found in the skin.

The wines from these grapes offer great variety of colour, breadth and depth of aromas and great complexity on the palate. They are also much more suitable for ageing in barrels, because the higher the acidity and proportion of tannins, the greater the possibility of obtaining wines for ageing.

Grapes arrive at the winery with total respect for the fruit, without breakage & without exposing them to the sun or high temperatures immediately after being harvested from the vineyards surrounding the winery. Selection of bunches is carried out & only healthy & ripe fruit enters the fermentation tanks.

Cold maceration for 12 hours, followed by a spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks of 6000 liters. No commercial yeast is used. All fermentation wine is gently pressed without malolactic fermentation. The wine remains on the lees for 7 months in the stainless steel tanks and bâtonnage is carried out twice a week. Stabilization and clarification is also natural, the Wines rest in tanks during the coldest months of the year, where natural decantation takes place.

lmost golden yellow color, very aromatic, of great intensity, floral nose full of white flowers, roses, notes of cold climate, subtle perfumes of honey & orange blossom & citrus fruits such as orange & mandarin. On the palate, an explosion of flavors to fresh grape & white fruits, dry but with good acidity & freshness, while being very structured, with herbaceous tones and a pleasant bitterness at the end, clean and long. It has the typical characteristics of the Muscat grape abut when tasted, its freshness, fat texture and complexity are surprising, due to the time it spends on its lees.
